WOOD

THE APPRECIATION FOR NATURAL AESTHETICS

"In ancient forests,

The woodcarver's axe hears

Only the bird's song."

Haiku in the spirit of Matsuo Bashō

The intricately handcrafted wooden utensils embody the convergence of craftsmanship and appreciation for natural aesthetics, expressing tranquility and simplicity. The organic forms accentuate the beauty of each piece.

The Spoon

The Spoon is hand-carved by artisans from the Central Valley in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico. It is made from the beautiful wild yegalán wood. A plant from the mountain ranges of Mexico growing up to 3 meters in height. This emblematic shrub and endemic species also known as Tlaxiste now is, thanks to an extensive reforestation campaign, highly valued by local creators. The delicate spoon serves well as a portioning spoon for salt and other small quantities, or as an elegant dessert spoon.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS: After use, it is recommended to clean and dry the wood immediately. Do not wash in dishwasher or soak in water. For cleaning, rinse the wood with lukewarm water using a 100% natural, biodegradable dish soap (acid-free). Honey soap, due to its natural antimicrobial properties, will kill bacteria on the surface of the dishes. If the wood becomes dull, when completely dry, it can be treated with food-grade beeswax, natural linseed oil, or organic coconut oil. Once the wooden utensil has fully absorbed the wax or oil, remove any excess residue from the surface with a clean cloth. The resulting protective layer ensures that the wood is nourished and regains its beauty, shades, and appearance without altering its color. At the same time, it protects against water, moisture, and cracks.
